Novelty

Started this book last week with few expectations and it's very fun and is written very well!

If anyone is a fan of The Count of Monte Cristo, then this is a book to check out. :)

Work

For my marketing internship at Career Services, I get to design the shirt for them for next year.
They want hiresooner.com or career services on the front and then the good, bad, ugly phrase on the back.

Having some difficulties but am sort of making head way

I made some lovely color swatches that I wanted to share and I just decided to make little abstract plant forms to showcase them by

Gig Posters

I found the gigposters.com website a few years ago and I love to check it out every so often because the gig posters people are creating are really amazing. It seems like anything goes with band posters and I love that. All the rules are used and broken at the same time.

I've pulled out some that I found tonight that caught my eye:

This first one was by a designer called just Kyle D. I loved how he used the type in the leg and the way he has the red and white with a touch of black and purple that make the poster really strong.

This one was by Talkseek and The typography was the main thing that got me on this one. I loved the photographs inside the dominant letters as well as their lovely color combinations.

This designer for the last three are Casey Deming. They reminded me of the collages I made a couple weeks ago and I loved the simplicity and variety of her type with her strong compositions.

How Novel

I just started Dante's Divine Comedy on Sunday night and it could end up being too big of a load for me right now...but so far I've enjoyed it and I know I want to read it someday, so why not now?

Anyway, here's a little post about it!

Collage Time!

Well, tonight I wanted to make some collages. So I did.

Sugar Consumption Diagrams

Here are my initial numbers and ideas:

And here are my inspirations, research and rough:

And this is the final product:

And this is the revised final:

Some changes after our critique, obviously the color was the biggest. The class noticed that the other green was competing too much with the gray so I adjusted it. Then the Sweet Sweet in the title wasn't reading well so I changed the style. Then the last thing I added was to add a conversion for tablespoon vs. teaspoon.

Just some inspiring work

type has become a pretty big obsession of mine lately (type 1 helps, a lot), so I decided to look through my ideas folder and see what I had plucked from the interweb at a previous time because of it's beauty, and I came across this!

SUCH a lovely poster design by Matt Wizinsky

So yeah, it's lovely and simple and busy and full and spacious all at the same time.
(and I am very drawn to citron green for some reason...)

Poster Fun

Alright, so I've been obsessed with this style for years but have never tried it. And I finally decided it's time!

I saw this on Behance two years ago and it's by Anna Farkas from Hungary and here's a link to her site! http://www.behance.net/anagraphic

I want it to be intricate, but not that floral pattern. And I like how it's similar to my stitching but is still different :)

This is a better idea of the holes:

So this is still pretty rough...I like the two tone color but am not sure if it would just be nicer as no ink like the top image. So there will definitely be some experiments, but I'm excited to start before spring break!

Greece

So I'm going to Greece this summer and decided to make a quick image about what we think of when we first think of Greece

geometry

Over Christmas break I got really into geometric forms and how they can break up...I did some watercolor and stitching with them but tonight I wanted to see it more clean cut and in a digital format. I like it.
